While You Were Working: The Pro Bowl Went Fantasy League

The NFL is trying its hardest to make the Pro Bowl interesting, so they've eliminated conference selections from the 86-player pool and given fans some motivation, too. A three-person panel of a former player, one of the highest vote-getters on offense or defense and one of two fans that earns the spot through fantasy football success get to finalize the teams. 

 

Urban Meyer suspended Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde for three games because of a bar incident he was involved in a few weeks ago. Police elected not to pursue assault charges against Hyde, but it gave Meyer the perfect opportunity to play the fatherly "disciplinarian" role. Cats are actually celebrating this like it means something. 

 

O.J. Simpson was granted parole for his 2008 robbery conviction, but they caught him up on so many charges, the man still has at least four more years of time before parole. 

 

D.J. Williams, Brian Urlacher's replacement in Chicago, was carted off the field with a calf injury at Bears training camp. He's week-to-week.

 

The Phillies are keeping Cliff Lee. That's actually kind of surprising, considering how everything's gone in Philly this year, and Cliff's well-known propensity to bounce around. 

 

Nelson Cruz could appeal if he's suspended in connection to the Biogenesis scandal. It's sort of been understood that all of these guys were just going to wave the white flag on it.
