While You Were Working: Justin Verlander Broke The Bank

Justin Verlander got the contract extension that most non-baseball players only dream of. He was already on paper for this season to make $20 million, and again in 2014. If the Tigers pick up Verlander's team option in 2020, this extension could be worth as much as $202 million (if you include to guap he gets in the next two years). 

 

 

 

 

With the new deal Fred Hoiberg and Iowa State agreed to, he could be coaching there until 2023, making roughly $2 million a year. Not quite the Verlander deal, but it's job security, right?
