TSL Sports Talk Recap: Stephanie Grant

Last week on TSL Sports Talk ESPN's Senior Manager of Events, Stephanie Grant, joined us to talk about the 10th anniversary of the "MEAC-SWAC Challenge Presented by Disney" that took place over the Labor Day weekend. Stephanie, a 16 year ESPN veteran, and has managed the event for the last four years, and is responsible for dozens more at the company.

This year, North Carolina A&T State came out on top over Alabama A&M, 47-13. TSL Sports Talk host, Mark Gray, started the discussion by talking to Grant about ESPN's efforts to make the halftime show part of the broadcast and how that is significant.

Grant:

“You cannot have Black College football without the band. So, when we first started this concept, we knew that it was something that we definitely wanted to incorporate. Working with our production team, we televise anywhere from 3-4 minutes of each band's performance. That's actually on game day. The other thing we do with the band- we have a parade and they actually get to march in the Magic City parade."

Listen to the full segment below to hear Grant's expectations of the MEAC/SWAC challenge since its inception, teams that represent each conference and more.
