Stephen A Smith “AKA” La Boca, went on his ESPN First Take show on Monday and licked shots at Philadelphia Eagles HC Chip Kelly, implying that Kelly is a racist. Smith lambasted a selection of Kelly’s recent roster moves and then hinted that Kelly might not want black players in his locker room.

Smith said this:

“Chip Kelly makes decisions over the last couple of years that, dare I say, leave a few brothers feeling uncomfortable,” Smith said. “I think that’s fair to say. I mean, we’re sitting here looking at some of the decisions that Chip Kelly makes and I’m like what is up? What’s up with that? I mean, it’s like you’ve got to be his kind of guy, you know? And I’m like, well, Riley Cooper’s your kind of guy?”

Then Smith went on his afternoon radio show on Mad Dog Sports Radio (Sirius/XM) and said his words were being twisted by people who love controversy.

According to my TSL NFL insider @DubCTank25, who specializes in Philly sports, the radio airwaves have been poppin’ like Tech shells since Smith mouthed off on Kelly. In the first edition of TSL Fan Flow, I let my Philly Funkster give us an authenic street pulse on whether or not Stephen A’s claims are legit or bullsh*t.

By @DubCTank25:

Honestly, as a diehard Dallas fan living in a sewer of Philly Eagles fans, I think what Stephen A. Smith said is ridiculous. Chip Kelly only cares about guys who buy into his system. That's why you see nine former Oregon Ducks on the Eagles roster. In fact, as I speak, the Eagles just traded QB Nick Foles to the Rams for Sam Bradford and swapped first-round picks. It's not about race, it's all about Chip.

He's not going to over pay specific players when he thinks it’s his system that puts points on the board. Desean Jackson, LeSean McCoy and even Cary Williams—as productive as they’ve been—have spoken out against Chip's system in one way or another.

Riley Cooper made his N-word remarks, but in Chip Kelly’s complex, egotistical mind, those off field issues are forgivable because Cooper has never spoken out against Chip or what he's trying to do—nor would he.

Who else is going to pay him for being a decent blocking receiver but below average at everything else? Jeremy Maclin is a different story, but it’s not surprising that he left . He was arguably the top WR available so teams were going to over pay for his services, especially the Chiefs, because it’s all about the system and familiarity in the NFL. HC Andy Reid drafted him and he’s from Missouri. He isn’t anything special and just had his first 1,000-yard season in 2014.

Chip already showed interest in signing two black free agents in RB Frank Gore and Byron Maxwell and resigned Brandon Graham who is also black. They traded for and resigned two Hispanic players in LB Kiko Alonso and QB Mark Sanchez.

Stephen A is a fool. He's become as bad as his co-host (Skip Bayless) saying stuff for shock value and ratings.

Kelly doesn’t exhibit the behavior of a coach being guided by color lines. He convinced the owner to basically demote the GM Howie Roseman because Roseman often disagreed with Chip and the players he wanted to draft. Roseman is white.

Todd Herrmans was let go and he is white. The only reason Nick Foles became a starter in Philly is because Mike Vick got hurt. Foles played very well that preseason but Vick played better and was named the starter.

Chip wants his guys and he wants this to be his team. If Chip is guilty of anything, it's more Narcissism than it is Racism.
