Tiger Woods Takes 2nd At PGA Championship But Fan Love Equals A Win

Tiger Woods hasn’t won a PGA Tour event since 2013 when he took the title at the 2013 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Since then, Woods’ life has been filled with personal drama, injuries and poor performances. But over the last few months, Woods has made an amazing comeback, showing fans glimpses of what made him one of the biggest attractions in all of sports. And while he hasn’t won a Tour event in five years, his most recent performances are giving fans, and Woods himself, hope that he will regain his winning form and dominate the sport once again.

Last month Tiger had fans going crazy when he was briefly tied for first at the British Open, and although he finished sixth at the end of the Open, fans felt that the old Tiger was making a comeback, which is why all eyes were glued to the TV when he stepped on to the course at the PGA Championship this weekend.

On Sunday, he didn’t disappoint and had fans going crazy once again as Woods was straight ridiculous in the final round where he shot a 6-under 64, which is actually his lowest score on a Sunday in his long and prestigious career.

Tiger finished up today with a 64, his lowest score on a Sunday in his major career. The 6-under score also ties Tiger’s lowest Sunday score at a major (2002 Open, shot 6-under 65 after shooting 81 in 3rd round).

Fans were ecstatic on Sunday as he tore up the green, hole after hole, en route to a career performance. You could feel the excitement as fans knew they were witnessing something special, and had he won it all, they would have exploded.

While his performance on Thursday, and some small mistakes during the rest of the weekend, eventually contributed to Woods falling short of the win, you can’t deny that he still has the ability to not only play but also still has the presence that commands the love and respect of fans who are anxiously awaiting his first win in years.

“These fans were so positive all week,” said Woods after the Championship. “I cant thank them enough for what they were saying out there, and what it meant to me as a player.

Woods finished in second place (-14) behind Brooks Koepka (-16), but after going 66-66-64 in the final three rounds of the PGA Championship this weekend, the lowest score across 54 holes of a major in his career by four shots, his opponents just might be chasing him at the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs which start later this month.
