Tiger Woods Admitted He Was Taking Xanax During Recent Arrest

The situation surrounding Tiger Wood’s arrest for alleged DUI continues to evolve.

At first it was reported he was arrested on a charge of DUI. But after failing to register any alcohol in his system, it was reported that Woods was on prescription medication to treat his most recent back surgery. 15 hours later, he issued a statement apologizing for his arrest, expressing his embarrassment and regret for all to read:

“I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans. I expect more from myself, too,” he said. “I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.

“I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and I would like to personally thank the representatives of the Jupiter Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for their professionalism.”

Today we’re learning that it was more than just pain killers, as it was disclosed he revealed to the arresting officers that he was taking Xanax, a drug prescribed for depression and anxiety. After requesting and receiving a copy of the redacted police report, the Golf Channel published the following story which included mention of Woods taking Xanax through a note from Officer Christopher Fandry, who interrogated Woods on the scene. Per that story:

“I asked Woods if he had taken any medication to which he stated Xanax, Fandry wrote.

“Fandry reported that Woods told him once more during the field sobriety test that he had taken Xanax. After arriving at the testing facility, Woods told officers that he was on four medications Soloxex (sic), Torix (sic), Vioxx and Vicodin but did not mention Xanax.

Xanax is a benzodiazepine commonly prescribed to treat anxiety and depression”

Tiger’s decline continues, and sadly it is simultaneously happening both on and off of the golf course. We expect more will be coming in regards to this story so we will continue to keep you updated.
