This Day In Black Sports History: The King drops 50 in MSG

On March 5, 2008, King James held court at the world’s most famous arena and scored 50 points against the New York Knicks in a Cavaliers 119-105 win. LeBron shot 16-for-30 from the field, including 7-of-13 from beyond the arc, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished 10 assists. He left the court to a standing ovation from the New York crowd chanting, “MVP!”

“I’ve dreamed about playing well in this building and it’s overtaken of how I could ever dream about,” James said. “To get a standing ovation in the greatest basketball arena in the world, it was a dream come true for me. It’s one of the best things that ever happened to me.”
