The Walking Dead, Marvel, and Game of Thrones Host Panels During San Diego Comic Con

The 45th anniversary of San Diego’s Comic Con kicked off at the San Diego Convention Center Thursday. Concluding this weekend, celebrities and fans of superheroes and sci-fi get to play and join together to celebrate the best in superhero, science fiction films, and comic books.

Friday, fans in attendance were offered a five minute sneak peek at the upcoming fifth season of AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead. Premiering October 12, executive producer  Robert Kirkman said, “This is a season that is going to be pretty close to the comics.”

Friday, HBO announced its adding nine new cast members to Game of Thrones, including veteran actor Jonathan Pryce who will play The High Sparrow. The series will shift part of next season’s focus to the home of Prince Oberyn Martell and the aftermath of his gruesome death.

Saturday, director Zac Snyder sat on Warner Brothers’ movie panel and tweeted out a first-look photo of actress Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice film. And being sure to further end Comic Con with a bang, Marvel hosts a panel providing insight into their film releases through 2019. Other events include a X-Men-themed virtual reality activity on the show floor where people can sit in a replica of Professor X's wheelchair and virtually track down Mystique.

Comic Con also offers sneak peeks of upcoming films including Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mad Max: Fury Road, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
