The Nets Want To Give Jason Collins Another Shot In The League

If all goes as planned, by the end of the off season, the Brooklyn Nets will be a team full of seasoned vets and storylines. Only a day after the squad hauled in Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry via trade, the Nets are now setting their sights on free-agent center Jason Collins.

This is probably the best situation for Collins, who became the first openly gay player in NBA history when he came out in May. The 34-year-old has a close relationship with new coach Jason Kidd and assistant Lawrence Frank from his seven seasons with them during his first stint with the Nets.

Collins played 32 NBA games for the Celtics, followed by 6 with the Wizards before Washington released him last season. Obviously, the Nets still think he has enough in the tank to provide the defensive support needed to make the championship run they seem so poised to make.
