The Humbling Of Jalen Ramsey Continues

The mouth of the AFC South was at a loss for words following a 40-7 whipping at the hands of the Cowboys.

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey has gotten props from a scoop thirsty media, for being loud and brash and making predictions and writing checks that his ass can’t cash. His detractors were eager to find out how Ramsey would react when things didn’t go his way.  What if he was the one embarrassed and had to stand in front of the media and answer tough questions?

Now they know.

The mouth of the AFC South, who trashes players in public, openly criticizes NFL rules changes and claims to be the Deion Sanders of today’s NFL cornerbacks was at a loss for words following a 40-7 whipping at the hands of the Cowboys.

Sunday’s loss was Ramsey’s moment of truth. The day his true character would be revealed. Instead of keeping his same energy, Ramsey got quiet as a mouse. A man that has all the answers, all the time, could barely muster a response to reporters other than “I don’t know man” and some “grunts.”

When asked if the Jaguars were still the NFL’s best defense, his usual confidence was absent as he mumbled, “We ain’t playing like it.”

It was the only honest moment of the entire locker room exchange.

Back in August, Ramsey was sounding off on NFL players and made it his business to note that the Cowboys are built around Ezekiel Elliott.

“Dak Prescott, he’s good, ” Ramsey said.“He’s alright. He’s okay. I’ll put it that way. [Ezekiel Elliott] runs that team though. Everything runs around Zeke.”

Well, on Sunday Cole Beasley got into the end zone twice and Dak had one of his best passing games of the season. Dallas put up 40 against a Top 3 NFL defense, leaving the self-proclaimed best corner in the game speechless.

Ramsey’s sudden passivity led to an onslaught of Twittersphere assassins going at his neck.

@jalenramsey You talk so much ? about players and how great you are…yet you’re now 3-3, got lit up by Dallas (?) and after the game you punk out with the media. Karma is funny huh? #WinLikeAProLoseLikeAPro instead of #WinLikeACockyPunkLiseLikeALilBitch

It was GREAT to see Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey’s humbled silence after the game vs the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. Best thing I saw yesterday by far. Nobody is saying he should avoid being brash at all. He just needed that reality check. #NFL #Week6

It’s his own fault though. Leadership isn’t being the loudest and most flamboyant or being a shock jock.

Nah homie. Leadership is being able to keep that same energy in the best of times and the worst of times and Ramsey failed to do that on Sunday.
