The Eagles Edge The Patriots In A Shootout, Win Their First Super Bowl

SuperBowl LII between the Eagles and the Patriots was an offensive record-breaker, but it was Philly’s defense that came up with the biggest play in their 41-33 win on Sunday night.

Nick Foles threw the go-ahead 5-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz with 2:21 to go and Philadelphia Eagles walked away with their first Super Bowl.

The game was the most prolific ever played in NFL history in terms of combined yardage, but it was ultimately decided on a strip sack when Brandon Graham knocked the ball out of Brady’s hands with 2:09 to play, setting up a field goal by Jake Elliott that iced the victory.

Foles, the game’s MVP, threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass on a fourth-down trick play.

Eagles backup running back Corey Clement, a New Jersey native that was an undrafted free agent out of the University of Wisconsin, caught four passes for 100 yards.

The Eagles were underdogs for each one of their playoff games this year, but that didn’t matter because the Vegas odds don’t determine who true champions are.

Philly head coach Doug Pederson proved that he was up to the task of matching wits with Bill Belichick and the Eagles defense came up with big plays when it mattered.
