The Cleveland Browns Suspend Gordon And Fine Manziel

Week 17, the final week of the season. While many teams will be looking towards a winter vacation and the 2015 season, many other teams have something to play for tomorrow. Whether it be a division title, playoff positioning or an actual playoff spot, week 17 still has meaning for many teams.

For the Cleveland Browns, the final weekend of the season would have just been another game, but now it has taken on a more negative meaning as the team announced that it has suspended receiver Josh Gordon for the game and fined rookie Johnny Manziel. While Manziel was placed on injured reserved after injuring his hamstring, the player was still required to be present for either the team's walk-through or for treatment for his injury; yet he was present for neither, which forced the team to fine him.

The suspension of Gordon is more interesting of the two penalties though. Not only was Gordon suspended for the first 10 games of the season this year, but with his current suspension, Gordon now becomes a restricted free agent after the 2015 season because he was only active for five games this season, missing the six game requirement to have a fully accredited season. The Browns have stated that he was suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules, while some are reporting that his suspension was due to him missing the team's walk-through on Saturday.

The Browns conclude a disappointing season with more disappointment.
