The 2016 Shadow League Leadership Awards: Brittney Reese

Each year, The Shadow League honors men and women of color who are trailblazers in the world of sports. This year we presented awards to four incredible men and women who are leading the charge across the sports world at the 2016 Shadow League Awards Presented by AT&T DIRECTV.

Among our honorees is Track and Field standout Brittney Reese.

Brittney Reese is a woman of many amazing talents. She is an Olympic Gold Medalist in the long jump in the 2012 Summer Games in London. She is also a Mother, a proud alum of Old Miss and founder of the Brittney Reese Foundation, which awards scholarships to high school seniors from her hometown of Gulfport, Mississippi.

She has a strong commitment to philanthropic endeavors, organizing a Thanksgiving turkey drive in her hometown to give back to those who supported her.

Reese is also the first athlete, male or female, to win five consecutive world championships in the long jump. A trailblazer indeed. Make sure to cheer her on as she defends her Gold Medal in the long jump in Rio.

Congratulations to Brittney Reese on being a 2016 Shadow League Leadership Award recipient.
