In honor of the 25th anniversary of Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing, BAMCinefest hosted a special screening of the film at Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Harvey Theater this weekend. Lee appeared along with a few of the film’s cast members, including; Bill Nunn, who played Radio Raheem, Rick Aiello and Rosie Perez.

The film, which deals with racial tensions on a hot summer day in Brooklyn’s Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood, premiered in 1989. Speaking at the screening on how far society has come since then in regards to racial tensions Lee stated, “It’s not the way it was under the Koch administration.”
