Spike Jonze’s Her Opens Nationwide

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you have heard about the Spike Jonze film Her, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Scarlett Johansson. Her is described as a hybrid of science fiction, drama and romantic comedy.  Phoenix plays Theodore Twombly, a lonely writer who is introverted and has trouble expressing his feelings. He purchases a new operating system that has true artificial intelligence and is voiced by Johansson.

The film opens January 10. I know several tough guys out there that have their faces frowned up, reading this, with the very dismal thought of seeing such an offering. But the film hasn’t had a single negative review published. (I looked desperately for one). And it brings three Golden Globe nominations to boot and root for this weekend. It's a refreshing and original take on love and male vulnerability. That’s right, tough guy. I said vulnerability. Take your girl. Earn some points.
