Anybody who watches “Inside The NBA” knows things can get a tad bit uncomfortable on air from time to time when Shaq and Charles Barkley get to jawing back and forth. But, earlier this week, things took an even more awkward turn than usual when the two former NBA big men got confrontational.

After Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, with the Cleveland Cavaliers going up three-games-to-one on the Boston Celtics, Shaq and Charles went from reviewing the game to making threats of bodily harm and furniture disruption as the uncomfortability factor for the audience elevated.

And it all stemmed from Shaq’s mention of the ringless Barkley’s lack of knowledge about playing for championships.

Said Shaq, “You don’t want to mess around, Chuck. You have no idea what we’re talking about because you’ve only been to the Finals once.”

To which Barkley retorted, “I wasn’t riding on Dwyane Wade and Kobe’s coattails.”

Did it go even further South from there you ask? You bet it did.

As if that wasn’t more than enough, Shaq came back with, “Chuck’s always interrupting. Don’t interrupt me Chuck or I’m going to punch you right in your face. I’m telling you!”

Never one to be undone or shut up for that matter, Barkley said: “If you hit me, we’re gonna be moving the furniture. I’m gonna throw one of these chicken wings at your fat a**!”

It’s a good thing the NBA season is almost over. We think both of these fellas need a cooling off period. If for no other reason because little kids and young athletes who look up to them are definitely watching this behavior. It’s time to call a timeout on the foolishness guys. A long one.
