Serena Williams’ Nude Vanity Fair Cover Puts John McEnroe To Bed

Serena Williams was chilling quietly during her pregnancy and away from the spotlight until John McEnroe tossed out his misguided comments to downplay her greatness. In a classic example of male chauvinism, he challenged the assumption that is gaining increasing steam that she’s the best and most dominant athlete in the world today.

McEnroe, the seven-time major champion who is touring to promote his new memoir “But Seriously,” said Serena would be “like No. 700 in the world.” if she competed on the men’s tennis circuit.

She fired back yesterday on Twitter, basically telling him to keep her name out of his mouth.

Dear John, I adore and respect you but please please keep me out of your statements that are not factually based.

She also showed that she has other things on her mind, such as celebrating the gift of impending motherhood with a Vanity Fair story delving into her relationship with fiance Alexis Ohanion, the founder of Reddit. Her Instagram post this morning featured one of the photos featured in the story.

Now with the McEnroe nonsense out of the way, we can celebrate her for what she truly is, one of the all-time sports greats who is intent on conquering perhaps her most beautiful and challenging thing to date, motherhood.
