Salute: John Lewis Was Arrested For The 45th Time

Representative John Lewis was arrested for the 45th time on Tuesday, this time for leading a protest for immigration rights.

Lewis was a member of the Big Six in the Civil Rights movement, and as he stated during his speech celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the March On Washington, things haven't changed nearly enough.

Lewis was arrested over 40 times before he became a Congressman as he fought for change. His last five arrests came while he was in office. This arrest was technically for "blocking a street."

Yeesh.

But good for Lewis. The fight for equality still rages on while the G.O.P. continues futile efforts to defund Obamacare and prevent millions from gaining access to healthcare, and he is still on the front lines. The man is a hero.
