Saints’ Mark Ingram Receives Four Game Suspension For PEDs

After a great season for the Saints, one in which they were one play away from the NFC Championship game before a rookie mistake reared its ugly head in crunch time, the team had high hopes for 2018, especially with the backfield of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara.

Well today Saints fans learned that year two of that monster backfield would have to wait until week five to be reunited as Mark Ingram was suspended today by the League for four games for PEDs.

Ingram led the Saints in rushing with 1,124 yards, but won’t be around until Monday October 1st, meaning that he will miss the team’s games against the Buccaneers, Browns, Falcons and Giants. While it’s a huge loss, it’s not a complete disaster as Rookie of the Year, Alvin Kamara, will be starting, meaning Drew Brees still has a deadly weapon in the backfield.

The duo of Ingram and Kamara paired up to give the Saints the fifth best rushing attack in the NFL with 129.4 yards per game. They also became the first teammate running back duo in NFL history to have 1,500-plus scrimmage yards each in a single season, and with their selections to the Pro Bowl, the Saints became the first team in 42 years to send two running backs to the Pro Bowl.

But year two will is going to get off to a slow start as Ingram watches from the skybox for the first four games.
