Rule Breakers: The Allison Galer Episode

The 2018 WNBA season may be over, but womens basketball action is far from being finished. Right now, some of the leagues top talent is either preparing for the 2018 World Cup or training with their overseas squad to kickstart another five to six months of play.

Its exciting, right?

This means we get to watch more basketball and these women get another chance to sharpen their skills and win more trophies. But we all know one of the major reason these women ship abroad: The cash-money.

Overseas teams tend to dish out larger paychecks than the WNBA can afford to pay their talent. Teams in Europe and Asia pay up to 15 times more than the American league. (Search Diana Taurasi sits out of 2015 WNBA season for $1.5 million if youre curious.)

So that got us asking (among other things): Who are the people helping these women land these lucrative offers?

Allison Galer, attorney, and founder of Disrupt the Game is doing exactly that. Galer reps some of the most talented athletes in the WNBA past, and present including WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, Connecticut Sun forward and ESPN analyst Chiney Ogwumike, Atlanta Dream forward Monique Billings, Los Angeles Sparks guard Chelsea Gray and Minnesota Lynx guard Alexis Jones.

Looking at her clientele, we couldnt help but be impressed because shes only 28 years old. Whats more, she started her business before she even started law school. Just crazy.

That being said, we were super excited to talk to Galer about how she earned respect in the industry and how she travels all over the world to take care of her clients. We also touched on the trials her athletes face just to make a living.

Listen in and discover how Galer breaks the rules and disrupts the game.
