On Thursday, Drew Rosenhaus lived out every agent’s nightmare. This week, one of his most valuable clients, Rob Grownkowski underwent his fourth forearm surgery of the offseason. However, that’s not the frightening part.
Before heading into surgery, Gronk told Rosenhaus that he was dropping him to sign with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.
“Typical Rob. As soon as he woke up, he joked, ‘Hey, I’m firing you.’ I said, ‘What?’ He said, ‘Yeah, I’m letting you go. I’m going to hire Jay-Z,’ ” recalled Rosenhaus.
“He was joking with me. That’s the great Rob Gronkowski. Immediately after surgery in the recovery room he’s cracking jokes about letting me go as his agent. He’s one of a kind. Nothing’s going to slow this guy down. He’s a ton of fun to represent and an amazing client.”
Rosenhaus took it in stride, which makes him a better man than myself. If Rosenhaus was a vengeful soul, he should have returned the favor by telling a groggy Gronkowski that he’d been traded to the New York Jets
It’s probably for the best that Gronk doesn’t begin a business relationship with Jay-Z. We don’t want to see this on stage with Justin Timberlake and Jigga during a performance of Suit & Tie.
