Ravens’ Terrell Suggs to miss remainder of season

After a tough loss this Sunday to the Denver Broncos the Baltimore Ravens were dealt another blow when it was announced that their defensive captain, Terrell Suggs, will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

For a team that prides itself on being a defensive juggernaut, this loss will definitely ruffle the Super Bowl aspirations of the Ravens. The loss of their emotional leader and the franchises all-time sack leader is a huge blow to the franchise.

“Here’s a tough, tough break for a guy who’s done nothing but work above and beyond to a degree and be the kind of leader that you just admire so much,” says head coach John Harbaugh. “These are the things in life that happen. Adversity is how you respond to it. It’s about how you react to it. It’s about how you come back and play the next game, and how our young guys step up and how our older guys wrap their wings around those young guys.”

To put into perspective how much Suggs contributed to the Ravens D, he has 106.5 career sacks with Baltimore, 36 more than any other Ravens playerever.

This is the second major injury for the veteran. He suffered a previous left Achilles tear in 2012. At 33 years old, hopefully this isnt the final stamp on a tremendous career.
