Rams RB Terrance Ganaway Is Making Bread

This past NFL season, Terrance Ganaway was stuck as one of the lowest options in a crowded St. Louis Rams backfield that featured Stephen Jackson. Jackson may bounce this off-season, and Ganaway decided to keep himself out of trouble so he can compete for any possible openings.

A few months ago, Ganaway tweeted that he was looking for a job, when a Jimmy John's employee replied that they were hiring. Ganaway took the job. Now, he's cutting meat and toasting bread 12 hours a week.

“I just wanted to stay fit, stay out of trouble, and really just try to save money and not spend a lot of money,” he said. “So I just jokingly tweeted that I needed a job in Waco. Was anyone hiring?

My No. 1 job is being an NFL player,” Ganaway said. “So don’t get it confused as to me working at Jimmy John’s has me lazy. … I know what I have to do. I know how to get in shape and I know what it takes to perform at a high level. Really, Jimmy John’s is just to keep me out of trouble in all the down time we have in the offseason.”

This is a good story — aside from the corny Jimmy Johns to NFL comparisons in the piece — and a refreshing change from what we usually see in the media about NFL players in the offseason.
