Prince Funks Up The Arsenio Hall Show

Prince has always been the type of musician that marches to the beat of his own drum, and the Purple Funkmaster stayed true to himself as he took over the Arsenio Hall Show on Wednesday night. He played many of his classic hits as well as some new material from his upcoming album Plectrumelectrum. No release date has been set for that album as of yet.  Other than Hall’s opening monologue, the entire show was dedicated to Prince. And while there, he spoke with Arsenio in length and even added his number one pet peeve.

"Strangers touching my hair," he said.

Can you blame him? According to People, fans waited for six hours to get into the taping, which was two hours long.

Prince spoke with Hall and audience members on a variety of topics, revealing he would be a teacher if it weren’t for music, didn’t own a cell phone, and that his cooking specialty is not pancakes, as hilariously illustrated by Charlie Murphy and Dave Chappelle on the Chappelle Show, but omelets.

Prince also gave fans a clue as to why it takes him so long to release a full album.

"One of the things that we try to do, though, is wait until we have other songs that go together with our favorite. That's why it takes a long time to come out with new albums these days. You know, not being under contract, there's no rush to do [an album]."
