How you going to run up in Hank Aaron’s crib and think you are going to get away with it?
The city of Atlanta holds down its Home Run King—the last “clean” MLB champ—like record labels protect unreleased albums from social network leaks.
Atlanta police say they’ve made an arrest in a July burglary at Aaron’s home. Police Sgt. Greg Lyon said one suspect was in custody Monday night, but they are not releasing names at this time.
“We do anticipate additional arrests and will release all of that information when doing so will not hinder the investigation,” Lyon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
While Aaron, 79, and his wife were out of town at the MLB All-Star Game in New York, Aaron got a call from his alarm company. The following day, he asked a neighbor to check on his home. According to a police report, the neighbor saw a broken window at Aaron’s house and called police, who arrived to find the couple’s southwest Atlanta crib ransacked by thieves who stole jewelry and two BMWs, The AJC previously reported.
Officers later recovered both of Aaron’s vehicles, and are still searching for other suspects.
