Police Have Video of Ray Rice Assaulting Fiancée

Days after video emerged of Ray Rice dragging his unconscious fiancée Janay Palmer out of a hotel elevator before they were both charged with simple assault, another development has emerged.

The video, which was obtained by TMZ is strong circumstantial evidence which suggests that Rice is guilty of assault, but there is no context for the video and whether she was passed out drunk or if something else altogether took place inside that casino elevator. It stands to reason that the hotel has elevator camera footage and it seems that those assumptions are correct.

It may seem uncouth to say, but it's the truth. The NFL is more forgiving of superstars than it is of aging, past-their-prime running backs. Rice falls into the latter category after last season. Rice is reaching the age where most running backs begin showing signs of decline and the Ravens front office doesn't need much of a reason to cut Rice and clear $14 million in cap space after he signed a five-year $35 million in 2014.

However, you look at this situation, it doesn't appear this will have a happy ending for Rice in a court of law or for the prospects of his career with the Baltimore Ravens. The organization has remained silent, however, after Rice appears in court next week, that could change.
