Like most of us, New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney is bothered by the NFL ref situation. So much so, that he's planning to introduce legislation banning the use of replacement referees and officials in professional league environments.
I can't speak for the members of his constituency, but I bet they're not pleased with this proposal. Considering the hundreds of issues facing lawmakers right now (for example, NJ has an unemployment rate of 9.9% percent and the state's poverty rate has gone up for the fourth straight year), his response seems wildy disporportionate. There are many things I want my politicians involved in and sports isn't one of them. Plus, its not like he represents people in Wisonsin. He's in Jersey after all, why does he care so much?
