Paul George Gets His First Nike Signature Kicks

After playing just six games in the 2014-2015 season following a vicious leg injury in a Team USA Olympic Exhibition game, Paul George came back like gangbusters last season playing in 81 games and averaging a career high 23.1 points per game and seven rebounds.

He slowly recovered his swag, his health and his superstar status. With his 2016-17 season rolling along, George, currently eighth in All-Star fan voting, is officially back among the leagues premier and most marketable players as the three-time All-star and Olympic Gold medalist will become the latest Nike Basketball signature athlete with the release of his first signature shoe, the PG1.

Nike unveiled the model on Monday via the “2K” colorway that references his love of gaming and his appearance on the cover of NBA 2K17.

The low-cut PG1, designed by Tony Hardman, features a forefoot strap, Flywire cable, and forefoot Zoom Air cushioning. The shoe also has fish scale paneling and a bobber-inspired lacelock referencing George’s love of fishing.

George will debut his Nike PG1 when the Pacers play the Denver Nuggets in London on Thursday, Jan. 12.

The unveiling comes at the perfect time for Paul and Indiana who are two games above .500. After a slow start the Pacers are on a five-game winning streak and have risen to fifth place in the tight Eastern Conference race for second place.

The suggested retail price for the Nike PG1 is set at $110, but dont expect to jet out and pick them up at stores. Nike hasn’t released any firm release date, saying only that additional launch details are to come.

Georges bucket game has elevated over the last month and he has also regained his lateral quickness and his reputation as a defensive force.

Its the shoes. The shoes. Its gotta be the shoes.
