Patterson Out as AD at Texas

Texas has fired athletic director Steve Patterson after 22 months on the job. Sources point to his tumultuous relationship with fans, donors and administration as the prime reason for the schools decision.

The hiring of Patterson, who previously worked as an executive for the Portland Trailblazers, initially excited the Longhorn fan base. Highlights during his tenure included the hiring of both Shaka Smart and Charlie Strong for their underachieving basketball and football programs. However, it was widely believed that Patterson lost the trust and confidence of his coaches and angered fans with rising ticket prices.

Former Longhorns Linebacker, Mike Perrin, has been tabbed to take over in the interim.
