Patrick Ewing Reportedly Hired As Georgetown’s Head Coach

Georgetown University will reportedly hire Patrick Ewing to be their next head coach, according to ESPN 980.

Ewing, 54, established the Hoyas as a national championship-winning powerhouse in the mid-1980’s before a long and successful NBA playing career, primarily with the New York Knicks.

Georgetown made the announcement official Monday afternoon.

In a statement, Ewing expressed how excited he was at the opportunity to be Georgetown’s newest head coach.

My four years at Georgetown were the best of my life,” Ewing said in a statement. “Georgetown is my home, and it is a great honor for me to return to my alma mater and serve as the next head coach.”

As our own J.R. Gamble stated in March, he believed hiring Ewing was the right move.

By making it official on Monday, it appears Georgetown Athletics agrees.
