NYC High School Basketball Player Becomes A Star On The GridIron

Thomas Holley, a 6-4, 290 pound basketball player from New York, turned into a highly ranked football prospect in just a matter of eight games, according to a recent article by Dylan Butler of DNAInfo.com. Holley, who plays for Abraham Lincoln High School, is a 5-star prospect in NYC and a 3-star defensive tackle in the country. Holley holds offers from a plethora of Division 1 schools.

From DNAINFO :

Holley is a five-star recruit listed as the top-ranked player in New York state and the third-ranked defensive tackle in the country in the Class of 2014. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound senior at Lincoln has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Mississippi, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, USC, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Rutgers, among a host of Division I schools.

Holley felt making the switch was needed because basketball wasn’t going to take him far enough due to his size

“There’s not too many 6-foot-4, 6-foot-5 power forwards in college and the NBA,” Holley said. “I was only going to get so far so I had to try something different.”

This is one of these great success stories about how players finally find their niche. You know you found your niche in football when phone calls come in from schools such as Alabama and USC.
