Nuggets’ Forward Wilson Chandler out for season

Denver Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler will undergo hip surgery that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

Chandler injured his hip during the preseason, and had not played in a game this season.

“While we are extremely disappointed by the news, we are confident that Wilson will be at full strength to start next season,” general manager Tim Connelly said. “Wilson is one of the league’s elite workers and we are going to be there for him during this entire process.”

Bad news for the Nuggets, who just signed the forward to a four-year, $44 million deal in the off-season. This will be Chandler’s second hip procedure, as he suffered the same injury in 2012, which caused him to miss the playoffs that year.
