North Carolina A&T Wins MEAC Championship With Victory Against Morgan State

North Carolina A&T had a long hustle to complete its MEAC championship run through the tournament. The Aggies, with 16 MEAC championships they have more titles than any school in the conference, entered this tournament as the seventh seed. They had to take down Florida A&M, No. 2 seed North Carolina Central and Delaware State just to make the title game against Morgan State, which the Aggies came out on top by a score of 57-54.

Realize that North Carolina A&T swept the regular season series with FAMU. That was the favorable matchup from the jump, but Central beat the Aggies twice this season, while Delaware State and Morgan State were both victorious in their only meetings with the Aggies this season. The odds really seemed to be stacked against this seventh-seeded squad.

So much for that, though.

The Bears cut the Aggies' lead to one, but Adrian Powell knocked down a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to go and Morgan State was unable to tie the score from there. This is North Carolina A&T's first NCAA Tournament berth since back-to-back appearances in '94 and '95.
