NFL Coach Pete Carroll Invited A Right-Wing Blowhard To Talk, But Why?

For some people of color living in America, it’s very difficult to deal in the current dialectic as racists are given the same amount of airtime as those wishing to push the country forward.  This, they say, is all done in the name of Democracy and fair play. However, as far as white nationalist thought processes are concerned, there is absolutely nothing a black or brown person could ever to do to gain an equal place with whites.

So, everytime a white person we believe to be in allegiance with us seemingly flips the script, it always comes off as a bit of a surprise. For example, the Justice Department naming Black Lives Matter as an extremist group, despite no evidence of bombings, kidnappings, car bombs or any of the nefarious trappings of a terrorist organization, is indicative of the “duality” of America.

Meanwhile, white supremacists, real terrorists, are gaining more power in public spaces than at any point in the last 20 years. In fact, former White House chief advisor Steve Bannon was at the right arm of the President of the United States. It would seem ridiculous on its face if you fail to understand that the United States was founded on, and continues to espouse, racism, segregation, and demagoguery via its leading figures, institutions and academic normalities.

That paradigm doesn’t just exist in the public sector but in sports as well.

Around five years ago, the Seattle Seahawks were looked upon as a team of “radicals” with the outspoken CB Richard Sherman, the politically active DE Michael Bennett and the mercurial all on the same roster.  Head coach Pete Carroll was applauded as the ultimate players’ coach for holding together all those personalities and amassing a winning record to boot.  My, my how things have changed in the post-Kaepernick era.

Once it was suspected that if Colin Kaepernick were to ever get another shot in the NFL, it would be Carroll who would give him the opportunity. However, Kaep was rebuffed not once but twice by the organization over the past two offseasons.

Recently, Carroll posted a photo of Professor Jordan Peterson to his social media account after a team visit.  Though it’s unclear what Peterson spoke about, and who he told it to, we can go to past statements made by the right-wing public figure and Youtube celebrity for an idea.
The professor at the University of Toronto focuses on social, personality and abnormal psychology.

Thanks to @jordanbpeterson for speaking to our staff and enlightening us today!

His book, “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos”, is currently the No. 2 most-read nonfiction book on Amazon. So, clearly, he’s highly recommended. Someone at George Mason called him “the most influential public intellectual in the Western world right now.”
Yes, in the whole western world! Here are few of the more incendiary comments the “good” professor has made over the years.

He once said that feminists have an unconscious wish for brutal male domination, when asked about their support of Muslims rights. In 2016, he tweeted to women in general, saying that if they usurp men they will rebel and fail and you will have to jail or enslave them.
Again, this is considered by some to be the “most influential public intellectual in the Western world right now.” Oh, really?
Actually, it’s no surprise at all.

Peterson recently talked about the disappearing masculinity in America in an interview with Fox News Tucker Carlson. In the interview, Peterson also said that centuries of oppression of women by men is an absolutely, reprehensible, ideological re-write of history, and that this is what is taught largely in schools and universities, and that this is harming young boys.

If you have your children in a school, and they talk about equity, diversity, inclusivity, white privilege, systemic racism, any of that, you take your children out of the class, Peterson said in the interview when asked what advice he could give to parents. Theyre not being educated, theyre being indoctrinated, and theres absolutely no excuse for it.

Indoctrinated? Indeed, like so many white nationalists are from birth? What “intellectuals” such as Peterson seemingly always forget or omit is how living organisms react to stimuli, whether positive and self-confirming or negative and self-degrading.

In this contemporary scheme, good is projected as detrimental, and bad is deemed “the American way” as far as equality, diversity, and inclusion are concerned.

So, in trying to figure out the logic of a so-called “progressive” NFL football coach in inviting this man to speak to a team that’s overwhelmingly black is almost impossible.

He also had tons of negative things to say about the Me Too Movement and was an opponent of a Canadian bill outlawing discrimination based on gender identity and expression.

This man is clearly detrimental to any efforts of true team-building in American contemporary society and seems only concerned with upholding and legitimizing the status quo. An academic buffer for white male fragility was invited into an NFL locker room where a brother who simply wanted police to stop shooting his kinfolk in the streets has been blackballed. Take that in.

Indeed, this IS America. The land of contradictions where the disenfranchised are framed as traitors while white supremacists are increasingly given platforms and cache.
