Nas Honored By Harvard University

Harvard University has announced plans to introduce a fellowship in the name of the famed lyricist Nas. Long respected as one of music's most thought provoking writers,  he was selected by the W.E.B Dubois Institute due to his exemplary career and creativity.

From HipHopDX:

Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr added, “Nas is a true visionary, and he consistently shows how boundaries can be pushed and expanded to further the cause of education and knowledge. The work of the Du Bois Institute is enriched by the addition of the Nasir Jones Hip-Hop Fellowship.”

The Nasir Jones fellowship is a tremendous honor for Nas and the hip-hop genre, but it is long overdue. It is about time that rap music is respected for its genius. So thank you Harvard University, for finally recognizing what the majority of hip-hip fans have been appreciating for over two decades. Better late than never, I suppose.
