Mike Tyson Was Impressed With Conor McGregor’s Performance

Getting stopped by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the 10th round of their “Fight of The Century” hasn’t done anything to damage Conor McGregor’s gate potential or global respect as a fighter.

McGregor continues to turn his L into a major win for his brand, his future and his street credibility as a boxer.

If anything, his legion of fans has expanded and you can add “The People’s Champion”, Iron Mike Tyson to that list of growing admirers. Tyson was one of the boxing gurus who predicted McGregor would get knocked out cold in the early rounds. He called McGregor a fool for fighting under boxing rules. Now he’s singing Conor’s praises.

Mike Tyson Gives Conor McGregor ‘A’ Grade For Floyd Mayweather Fight

Mike Tyson, former heavyweight boxing champion, saw Mayweather vs. McGregor and gave Conor McGregor a sterling grade for his performance in his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. This is from my radio show on SiriusXM. The Luke Thomas Show airs weekdays, 4 to 6pm ET, on SiriusXM RUSH, channel 93.

The poor, Irish kid is now a man of great wealth and stature, a man whose myth will grow as Floyd Mayweather officially fades into the background and McGregor continues to break ground as the biggest draw in both MMA and boxing

Tyson said he didn’t like the stoppage. Twenty years from now, the myth-driven narrative will be probably be that Conor was ahead on points when it was stopped, but that’s the beauty of transcending boxing matches, those epic and highly-anticipated fights that keep the bloodline of boxing relevance flowing.

Tyson surely gets that, but on a pure boxing note, he can’t help but give McGregor his props.
