Mike Evans Just Got Paid By The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Big Time

Receivers finally started to get their props a few years ago when the League started shifting to more of a passing game than ground game.

The cream of the crop have been players such as Antonio Brown, Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins, who bounced back from having Brock Osweiler freeze him out in 2016. But down in Tampa, Mike Evans was making a name for himself and proving that he was one of the main reasons why Johnny Manziel was considered such a top QB prospect for without Evans at Texas A&M, Manziel’s college career would have been slashed stat wise.

Today, Mike Evans just entered the category of elite as he and the Bucs have agreed upon a new five year contract extension worth $82.5 million. With an average annual salary of $16.5 million, this puts Evans directly behind the League’s highest paid receiver, Antonio Brown, who earns $17 million per year.

In his four year career, Evans has amassed 309 receptions for 4,579 yards and 32 TDs, and average of 75.1 yards per game. He’s also only the third player in NFL history to start his career with four consecutive 1,000 yard seasons , which is one reason why the talented former Aggie also made the Pro Bowl in 2016. Agent Deryk Gilmore also negotiated a contract where, according to CBSSports.com, “Evans receives $55 million in injury guarantees (the previous high was $48.7 million by Johnson); Evans has $38.3 million fully guaranteed over the next two years alone.”

Evans was thrilled and let #BucsNation know about it through Instagram.

Bucs Nation, I’m excited to announce I will be spending the next several seasons in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers with one goal in mind: winning a Super Bowl with my teammates. I want to thank the Bucs, from the owners to the front office, for believing in me and allowing me to take care of my family. I want to also thank my agents; Deryk Gilmore and Darren Jones for all of their hard work. I’m going to continue to strive for greatness on the field as well as in my community. #BUCSNATION!
