Undefeated welterweight Michael “Venom” Page (11-0) showed why his moniker is “MVP” when he defeated veteran MMA fighter Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos by crushing is frontal skull with a devastating flying knee in the second round to finish the fight.
Santos had some success in the opening round, getting the fight to the floor after dealing with Page’s unorthodox style. But Page started to find his rhythm in the second stanza, proving unfortunate for Santos. A liver kick stunned Santos, then a perfectly timed leaping knee from ‘MVP’ felled his opponent at the 4:31 mark of the second.
Bellator CEO Scott Coker has agreed to pay all the medical bills associated with the gruesome loss and has even agreed to pay the win bonus portion of Santos’ purse. Santos cannot fly out of London yet due to the injury and Bellator representatives are with him.
A GoFundMe account was set up by his ex-wife Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino to benefit Santos, with a $20,000 goal to help benefit the 38-year-old Brazilian as he awaits a likely surgery.
