Michael Dyer On The Verge Of Rebooting His College Career At Louisville

Michael Dyer's college career has been one long, winding journey. One year ago, Dyer appeared destined to fall off the map and become a sad football tale, akin to Maurice Clarett.

Recruited to Auburn as the No. 1 running back in the Class of 2010, Dyer broke Bo Jackson's freshman rushing record a few months after arriving on campus. In the BCS National Championship Game, broke off an improbable run after the Ducks defense incorrectly assumed they'd tackled him in the final two minutes that put Auburn in position to kick the game-winning field goal. Dyer rushed for another 1,200 yards as a sophomore at Auburn, but transferred to Arkansas State to play for his former offensive coordinator after getting released from his scholarship before his junior year. However, Dyer never played a single down for Arkansas State and ended up taking classes in obscurity at Arkansas Baptist.

Unlike Clarett, Dyer's collegiate career may come to a more fortuitious end. According to the Courier-Journal, Dyer is on the verge of becoming a student at Louisville. Ironically, Teddy Bridgewater could be the second future No. 1 overall pick that Dyer lines up behind in the backfield. If Dyer hasn't lost a step, Louisville's juggernaut of an offense just added another weapon to their attack.
