Megatron’s Ill Shoe Deal

I don't care how great one's professional career is, or how much is made in salary, a pro athlete isn't truly balling unless they have an action figure created in their likeness. And now, Detroit Lions' wide receiver Calvin Johnson has one. He's known throughout the NFL to have adopted the on-field moniker of Megatron, the despotic leader of the Deceptions from the science fiction franchise the Transformers. The doll…excuse me, the action figure, is part of a collaborative effort between Nike, who sponsors Johnson's shoes, and Hasbro-which is the company that created the Transformers toyline back in the late 80s. Oddly enough, Johnson tells ESPN that he didn't have any of the wildly popular toys in his childhood. The toy is part of a three shoe package for Nike that will have the Trainer Max, the Megatron Nike Air Trainer SC II and the Nike CJ81 Megatron Elite TD Cleat. The shows will be sold in a limited edition Megatron Rises 3-Pack, featuring the shoes and the action figure. Only 81 of the packages will be made available for purchase.
