LSU D-Coordinator Dave Aranda Signs Record-Breaking $10 Million Deal

LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda has signed a new $10 million contract, becoming the first FBS assistant coach to make over $2 million per year.

Aranda also serves as LSU’s assistant head coach and his new salary is more than 85 FBS head coaches make per season. He was given a new three-year deal in 2017, which would have made 2019 his final season. He’s now locked up until the end of the 2021 season.

The 41-year-old, who Texas A&M tried to hire away before the monster deal was announced, is in his third season with the Tigers after three years running the defense for Wisconsin. LSU ranked 12th in the nation in total defense in 2017 under Aranda, after ranking fifth in 2016.
