Lonzo's Baby Brother Gets Busy on Some Steph Curry-Type Stylistics
Lonzo Ball's baby brother LaMelo committed to play for UCLA when he was just 13 years old. Lonzo, as we all know, has been blazing through his one-and-done freshman campaign with the Bruins this year and with his incredible set, has UCLA poised to be a legit Final Four contender.
The middle Ball brother LiAngelo will suit up in Westwood next year, and the family's dominance on the prep level at Chino Hills High School has been a remarkable story since the three of them won a national championship playing together last year.
Chino Hills recently had their 60-game winning streak snapped this weekend by perennial powerhouse Oak Hill Academy this weekend, and it seems that Melo to that loss personally.
He responded by scoring an insane 92 points in Chino Hills' 146-123 victory over Los Osos last night, converting 30 of his 39 two-point attempts and seven of his 22 long range bombs. He also dished out seven assists.
With older brother LiAngelo not playing due to an injury, Melo did more than simply pick up the slack. By halftime, he had 29 points in the books. That's pretty special, considering high school quarters only last eight minutes.
But his second half eruption of 63 points was downright bananas! The cat scored 41 points in the fourth quarter alone and made 37 of his 61 shots overall. I know that Steph Curry has instituted a paradigm shift in terms of the arsenal that an impactful point guard can possess, but Melo is taking this Curry thing to a whole 'nother level!
Big Bro Lonzo, who is expected to be taken with one of the top overall picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, had to tip his cap to his lil' bro, who is still just a sophomore in high school.
Well I mean that's one way to bounce back after a loss... I see you lil bro 9️⃣2️⃣— Lonzo Ball (@ZO2_) February 8, 2017
Not sure how Melo can top this one, but it sure will be fun watching him try over the next few years.
92??? In a high school game? Gaaaaaahtdayumn!!!
