Lamar Jackson Declares For The 2018 NFL Draft

Lamar Jackson has done all he can at the collegiate level, including winning a Heisman in 2016, and Louisvilles superb junior quarterback has decided to declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.

Former Heisman winner Lamar Jackson declares for NFL Draft

At this point, Jackson can only hurt his pro stock by staying another year. Despite being the most dangerous weapon in all of college football, he has fallen victim to some of the stereotypical knocks we have seen over the years about African-American dual-threat quarterbacks and their ability to translate to the pro game.

A four-interception Citrus Bowl that dragged down his final numbers a bit didnt help either. His stock has taken a hit from some of the self-proclaimed draft experts over the last season. Questions about his passing ability have picked up steam as the NFL combines approach. Jackson will be one of the most scrutinized and polarizing athletes to grace the NFL Draft in some time.

Jackson joins Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold and Josh Allen as quarterbacks entering the draft with first-round potential and big-time upside.

Now, as the Mel Kipers and Todd McShays of the world begin to pick apart Jackson’s game like a lobster dinner, the University of Louisville will remember the multi-threat quarterback as a once in a generation legend that they were fortunate enough to borrow for a couple of years.

Kiper has Jackson as the 7th-ranked quarterback in the draft. Deshaun Watson was in a similar position last season and he was on his way to rewriting some rookie record books before a non contact injury tragically ended his first season.

Watson told NFL executives that they would regret not drafting him. He was 100 percent correct. Expect Jacksons game to get criticized and second-guessed. He might even drop in the Draft before he soars to the top of someones NFL depth chart. The youngest Heisman winner in college football history will ultimately get his shot to prove his viability as an NFL quarterback.
