Knicks’ Cleanthony Early robbed and shot outside of club

In what sounds like a set-up, New York Knicks player Cleanthony Early was robbed and shot after leaving a strip club early this morning in Queens, NY.

According to ABC News, Early left strip club CityScapes in an Uber cab around 4:30am when at least two cars surrounded the car he was in. After taking two of his gold chains, the robbers shot him in the right kneecap and drove off said law enforcement officials, who spoke on spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the victim’s name.

Early, 24, was hospitalized in stable condition.

In a brief statement the Knicks said they were aware of an incident involving Early and “relieved that he is not in a life-threatening situation.”

Early was shot in the same knee that he had arthroscopic surgery on, which caused him to miss two months of the 2014-2015 season. The 6-foot-8 player, a Bronx native, was selected by New York in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft following his senior season at Wichita State University.
