Carmelo Anthony caught first in the first and fourth quarters, putting up 36 points to win the first game of a playoff series for the first time in New York since 2001. It was a big performance from New York's star forward as Amare Stoudemire was out and Tyson Chandler was virtually irrelevant. But, thanks to some big plays from Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin -- plus the offensive genius of Melo in the last quarter -- the Knicks were able to take game one 85-78.
