Kanye’s 10-year Anniversary as an MC marked by College Dropout

Wow, has it been 10 years already? It would appear so. Today marks the 10th anniversary of the 2004 release of Kanye West’s College Dropout, which is considered by many to be his first truly classic album.  Adding to its mystique, College Dropout earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album as well.  Since that time, West’s sound has deviated quite a bit as he attempts to be creative and groundbreaking, or so it seems, with almost every album he releases.  The album may have been one of his most contemplative efforts to date.  It rode high on the Billboard charts thanks to the success of such hits as "Through the Wire" and "Jesus Walks."

Who would have thought it would have been named by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest albums of all time? I certainly wouldn’t have thought it. Here we are, 10 years later, and Kanye’s sound is a bit different, his swag a little left as well. But no one who has ever heard the album can doubt his genius then and even now.
