Johnny Manziel Is Not College Football’s Asher Roth

You'd think college would be cloud nine for Johnny Manziel. His girlfriend is a model; he's starring in country music videos; he's living life to the max off his fam's oil money; and the best part is that he's got three years left if he chooses to exhaust his eligibility. Despite winning a Heisman Trophy as a redshirt freshman last season, there are concerns about his NFL skillset. Therefore, staying until his senior year isn't unreasonable.

However, college isn't all it's cracked up to be. Early on Sunday morning, Manziel posted a terse Tweet that read, "I can't wait to leave College Station."

In case you were wondering, his account wasn't hacked. The tweet was deleted soon afterwards, but Manziel addressed his tweet in a follow-up message. Manziel never denied wanting to leave — he just wants people to understand his thought process and "walk a day in his shoes." Manziel's had it rough handling celebrity since returning to college, and everyone will be watching to see how he responds next season. If this is indeed his way of cushioning his departure from Texas A&M, he should probably focus on showing improvements in his sophomore season behind a more vulnerable offensive line and getting in sync with a new group of receivers. Secondly, he should talk to NFL scouts and get a draft grade, because questions about his arm strength and size persist. Forget challenging Teddy Bridgewater and Jadeveon Clowney to be 2014's No. 1 overall pick. Manziel is barely a third-rounder.

Texas A&M fans shouldn't fret. Kevin Sumlin is a man with a plan and a future at quarterback. The Aggies just signed the top prep quarterback recruit in the class of 2014.
