John Legend’s The First Black Man To Become A Member Of The EGOT Club

Sunday night singer and actor John Legend took home a Creative Arts Emmy for his role in the televised musical Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. This win placed Legend in the EGOT club, that being an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner in the entertainment industry. 

At 39, Legend made history by being one of the youngest EGOT winner and also the first African-American man to do so.

The actor took to Instagram stating that before that night, only 12 people had won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony in Competitive categories.
