Jerry Sandusky Sentenced To 30 Years

Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison. In June, the man was found guilty of 45 counts of child sexual abuse. At 68 years old, the 30-year sentence is, in effect, a life sentence.

Here's an excerpt from his delusional, defiant jailhouse statement

I would cherish the opportunity to become a candle for others, as they have been a light for me. They could take away my life, they could make me out as a monster, they could treat me as a monster, but they can't take away my heart. In my heart, I know I did not do these alleged disgusting acts. My wife has been my only sex partner that was after marriage. Our love continues.

Ultimately, this is mostly a story about one sick, depraved man. But let's not forget that this Sandusky scandal had lots of collateral damage — chiefly, the late Joe Paterno and the once venerable Penn State football program. Hopefully, though, it's lasting impact will be jumpstarting the downfall of the culture of cultism in college football America
