James Dolan VS the Knickstape?

“Start rooting for the Nets because the Knicks don’t want you”-James Dolan.

The New York Knicks owner has a lot more issues these days and it’s simply because the Knicks are 10-41. This has cast a dark shadow over the entire season but is also causing tremendous pain amongst the Knicks faithful. Long time fan Irving Bierman wrote a letter pointing out all of Dolan’s faults, also begging for the sale of the team. Bierman claims to be a Knicks fan for 60 plus years and has grown tired of them being terrible. Dolan responded with a strongly worded and somewhat aggressive response.

You are a sad person. Why would anybody write such a hateful letter. I am.just guessing but ill bet your life is a mess and you are a hateful mess. What have you done that anyone would consider positive or nice. I am betting nothing. In fact ill bet you are a negative force in everyone who comes in contact with you. You most likely have made your family miserable. Alcoholic maybe. I just celebrated my 21 year anniversary of sobriety. You should try it. Maybe it will help you become a person that folks would like to have around. In the mean while start rooting.for the Nets because the Knicks dont want you.

Respectfully, James Dolan.

This just confirms the worst of what Knicks fans already know; Dolan is a terrible diplomat.  Even though this is a contentious subject, a large majority of Knicks fans hate the Nets with a fiery passion. In a phone interview with Bierman when asked if he would ever become a Nets fan, the old school Brooklyn native responded  with a vehement “never”. If Bierman was an alcoholic, then his being a lifelong Knicks fan surely had something to do with it. Bierman’s letter has caused a massive “Sell the Knicks” campaign. The same New York fans who started the “Fire John Idzik” billboard and website have started one for the Knicks, called Knicks4Sale.com.

One of the owners of the website, Jason Koeppel stated:

“This email that he had the nerve to send to one of his fans was the moment. We talked last night the four of us and just said, you know what, we’ve had enough and we’ve gotta do something. I’ve been a Knick fan my whole life, and the past 15 years except for that one season where we won one playoff series have just been a nightmare.” We’ve been patient, and the cost of going to games has just skyrocketed to the point of being completely out of control, so we don’t attend as many games anymore, but we definitely watch on TV, and it’s just one terrible season after the other. “We’re sick of having Dolan around. We’re sick of his meddling. He’s an embarrassment. And it’s embarrassing to us to read the email that he sent to a fan, so we just felt like it was time to embarrass him.”

So what’s the end game for the Knicks4Sale website? Raise enough money ($20,000) to put a billboard on west 30th street and 7th avenue right next to MSG. They have already raised $1,000 and that number is only growing. Seems like Knicks fans are ready for a change and are starting to put their money where their mouths are.
